Fall Festivals and Fun

September 21, 2015

September and October pave the way for all things fall. From football to festivals, apple picking to bonfires, and pumpkins to fall colors on the trees, we love all things fall! There are a few things that take place AroundAbout Woodstock and Cherokee County each fall, that we wanted to make sure were on your radar, especially if you too love all things fall!

Scarecrow Invasion

In October, downtown Woodstock’s Main Street becomes lined with unique and whimsical scarecrows for the annual Scarecrow Invasion. This fun and festive event is one sign of fall for locals as businesses, families, and individuals pitch in for a little fun and fundraising.

You too could have your very own scarecrow representing your family or business in downtown Woodstock as this event has expanded this year! If you are interested in taking part in the scarecrow invasion, now is the time to start planning. All you have to do to get started is stop by the Woodstock Visitor’s Center at the historic Dean’s Store, register with a $20 fee and get working on your custom created scarecrow!

Festivals

The Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce identifies attractions and events in the county that are of interest to both residents and visitors. Take a look at the following festivals for your planning purposes:

Riverfest is in its 31st year of existence! This fall arts and crafts festival is organized by the Service League of Cherokee County and takes place in Canton’s Boling Park. Visit the Service League website for more details regarding this event taking place on September 26 and 27.

The Cherokee Chamber of Commerce visitors guide lists the Maize at Cagle’s Family Farm for a fun family field trip. Enjoy time together and work your way through this year’s maize at Cagle’s Family Farm which pays homage to the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s 100th Anniversary! The maize is open early September through November. Check the website for updates and schedules.

The 89th annual Cherokee County Fair is taking place September 22-September 27. Old fashioned family fun will be available for all in the form of carnival rides, livestock exhibits, arts and crafts, fair food, and entertainment. Take a look at the flier for detailed information.

Let us know if there are other favorite fall activities that you and your family enjoy! We hope you have a great fall!
