Tragic End in Kennesaw: Two Charged Following a Fatal Shooting with Tampered Marijuana

Sanifu Henry, a 21-year-old who relocated to Georgia from California to avoid gun violence, tragically met her death by shooting in what seemed to be a botched drug deal involving phony marijuana. Just after midnight on March 15, the incident happened. It was Kennesaw’s first homicide since 2019. A Cobb County grand jury indicted two young men last week in relation to Henry’s demise.

Three counts of felony murder, aggravated assault, criminal attempt to commit armed robbery, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony are among the numerous charges that the accused, Re’Shard Marquis Lee, 19, and Zier Xzavier Green, 18, face. The two tried to rob Henry, according to police reports, by passing off a concoction of items that comprised actual marijuana, oregano, and spinach leaves.

The 2600 block of McGuire Drive in the peaceful Oakridge community was the scene of shooting, which prompted the police to respond. When the police arrived, they found scattered gunshot remnants all over the road. Not too long after, they learned that Henry had been shot and was being treated at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital before passing away.

Green and Lee were apprehended promptly by the police as a result of their quick response. They were later charged with Henry’s murder and are being held in Cobb jail without bond. This terrible incident highlights the persistent problems with drug-related crimes and gun violence, which communities all throughout the nation are working so hard to address.

Sanifu Henry, a Kell High School alumnus recognized for his engagement in a variety of sports during his childhood, was regarded as a kind and compassionate person. The senselessness of his passing has left his family and the community in shock. Following the tragedy, his mother created a GoFundMe campaign to support the family during this trying time and pay tribute to him.
