Cherokee County recently hosted its second annual senior citizen prom, a heartwarming event that brought together 40 seniors at the Cherokee High gymnasium. Organized by Cherokee County Senior Services and the Cherokee and Sequoyah High School Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) Clubs, the prom was a delightful celebration of community spirit and intergenerational connection.
The evening was filled with lively activities, including trivia, dancing, and raffle prizes, all aimed at fostering a sense of joy and camaraderie among the attendees. For many seniors, it was an opportunity to relive cherished memories and create new ones in the company of friends and fellow community members.
One of the most memorable moments of the night was the crowning of Lonnie Kerchief and Bobbi Paulger as the Senior Prom king and queen, respectively. Their coronation symbolized the spirit of inclusivity and recognition of the seniors’ invaluable contributions to the community.
Sydney Caughman, Activities Coordinator at Cherokee Senior Services, expressed her joy at witnessing the genuine connections formed between the seniors and students. She applauded the dedication of the HOSA club members, who worked tirelessly to ensure that the seniors felt truly cherished and celebrated throughout the event.
