A man from Sandy Springs has turned himself in to authorities, now facing charges related to the murder of his girlfriend. The case has left the community in shock as more details come to light.
On Thursday evening, 33-year-old Robert Hayes entered the Sandy Springs Police Department and confessed to the killing of his girlfriend, 29-year-old Emily Carter. According to police reports, the tragic incident occurred earlier that day at their shared apartment on Roswell Road.
Detectives reported that Hayes and Carter were involved in a heated argument that escalated into violence. The exact cause of the dispute is still under investigation, but neighbors recalled hearing loud noises and shouting from the apartment around 2 p.m.
Upon Hayes’s confession, police immediately went to the apartment and found Carter’s lifeless body. She had multiple injuries, indicative of a physical altercation. Despite emergency medical efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hayes has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held at the Fulton County Jail without bail. During his initial court appearance, Hayes appeared visibly remorseful but did not make any statements regarding the incident. His attorney has stated that Hayes plans to fully cooperate with the investigation.
