As he welcomed the incoming president and underlined the need to avoid a Third World War, Russian President Vladimir Putin seemed to view Donald Trump’s return to the White House as the beginning of a new era of less animosity between the two countries.
According to information obtained by Knewz.com, the Russian dictator stated that Russia “welcomes” the Trump administration’s intention to reestablish direct communication with the country during a meeting with the country’s Security Council.
Earlier, amid worries about the potential ramifications of the triumph for the Ukraine war, the Russian president congratulated “Real man” Trump on his White House victory.
In an announcement, Putin congratulated the 78-year-old Republican nominee on his election victory, writing, “I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate him on his election as president of the United States of America.”
The Russian president reportedly called the president-elect a “real man” and commended Trump for surviving several assassination attempts.
According to Putin, “He behaved, in my opinion, in a very correct way, courageously, like a real man.”
According to reports, Putin subsequently asserted that “he felt as if Trump was ‘bullied’ during his first spell in the White House.”
Although the “pre-election period was not easy for US President-elect Donald Trump,” Putin claimed in a January 20 speech to his Security Council that Trump “displayed courage and won a convincing victory.”
Russian official media have claimed that Russia “welcomes the US president-elect’s commitment to preventing World War III and desire ‘to restore direct contacts’ with Moscow”.
The Russian president went on to say that the two nations’ discussions must be based “on equality and mutual respect.”
Notably, the Joe Biden administration’s decision to permit Ukraine to deploy American missiles to strike targets deep within Russian territory prompted Putin to deliver a chilling threat to Ukraine’s Western friends not long ago.
According to reports, one of the reasons Kremlin politicians appear optimistic about the Trump presidency is their conviction that Russia would benefit from a settlement mediated by the Trump administration over the crisis in Ukraine.
During his discussion with the Security Council and his correspondence with the U.S. administration, Putin discussed the future of the crisis in Ukraine.
As we have discussed numerous times, removing the crisis’s underlying causes is the most crucial thing to do. This is the most important item.
“As for settling the situation, I want to stress that its goal should be to achieve a lasting peace based on respect for the legitimate interests of all people, all peoples living in that region rather than a short-lived truce, some respite for regrouping forces and rearming for the purpose of subsequently continuing the conflict, but a lasting peace based on respecting the interests of all individuals, all peoples, who live in the region,” he added, as reported by Russian state media TASS.
There have been rumors that a deal mediated by the US government would allow Putin to retain the land that the Russians have taken and freeze the frontline where it is at the moment.
But according to anti-Putin activists, the Russian president may use these victories to launch a fresh attack and further expand on Ukrainian territory in the future.
