Trump’s Former CDC Director Claims ‘There is a Real Possibility’ Covid was Born in North Carolina

In a shocking statement, Donald Trump’s former director of the CDC said that COVID-19 might have originated in a North Carolina facility rather than Wuhan.

Robert Redfield, 73, had previously supported the “lab leak” theory, which claimed the disease originated in the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China, according to Knewz.com.

However, in a surprising turnabout, Redfield claims that the illness might have started in the Tar Heel State as a covert biodefense initiative.

He now contends that China did the best they could after “realizing they had a problem” and did not necessarily manufacture the virus.

He does, however, describe the US’s contribution to the virus’s development as “substantial.”

According to him, the American government is in charge of providing financing for research into the Department of Defense, USAID, and the NIH.

Redfield then identifies Dr. Ralph Baric, a researcher at the University of North Carolina, as “the scientific mastermind” behind all of this in an interview with the Dana Parish Podcast.

“I can’t prove it, but I think he probably helped create some of the original viral lines,” he said. However, he was heavily involved.

Redfield doubles down when asked whether the virus was “actually developed here” and if the Chinese were falsely accused of creating it.

In reference to Chapel Hill, the home of the University of North Carolina, Redfield stated: “Well, I don’t know if they were framed, but I think there is a real possibility that the virus’s birthplace was Chapel Hill.”

Although the virus is thought to have started in bats, there is now much disagreement about whether it spilled from the Wuhan facility or if Chinese scientists altered it to make it contagious beforehand.

Prior to comparing the White House COVID czar to a “dog with a bone,” Redfield, the former director of the CDC during the Trump administration, claimed Fauci was “holding on tightly” to the idea the virus arose organically.

Additionally, he criticized the “highly compromised” World Health Organization in 2021 for failing to take action against China at the onset of the COVID-19 epidemic and for allowing its communist government to control the WHO’s investigation into the virus’s origins.

Trump, 78, and his fans were harshly criticized for having the same belief when he was president. Trump visited with President Joe Biden, 81, at the White House last week.

According to Redfield, who does not think China purposefully disclosed the virus, COVID-19 spreads quickly from person to person, unlike other coronaviruses like SARS.

He was “disappointed” that the scientific community was not more forthcoming in exploring both theories at an early stage.

The lab leak theory was long derided by several scientists, the media, and academics who claimed it was a fringe conspiracy theory and even racist after Trump adopted it.

Doubters have been obliged to reevaluate the situation soberly in light of new information, including reports of three employees at the Wuhan facility who were gravely ill with symptoms similar to COVID-19 in November 2019.
