Sandy Springs Police Arrest Drug and Firearms Suspects After Traffic Stop

Sandy Springs Police Department arrested three people on guns and drug charges after a routine traffic stop late in March to combat crime. The incident near Peachtree Dunwoody Road and Concourse Parkway yielded drugs, guns, and other evidence.

At 11:38 p.m., Officer W.L. Honorat stopped a silver Honda Accord with Georgia license plate CTL8886 on Peachtree Dunwoody Road southbound. Officers cautiously activated body-worn cameras to start the stop.

Sandy Springs police found several frightening items while searching the vehicle and its occupants. $585 in cash, 128 grams of suspected marijuana, drug paraphernalia, a scale, two 9mm Glock 19 and 43 pistols, ammunition, and firearm magazines were seized. Police also seized four cellphones and a purse from a suspect.

Laylah Faria of Marietta’s 2022 Silver Honda Accord was impounded for investigation. Faria, 23, was charged with marijuana possession, production, distribution, and sale, as well as handgun or knife possession during certain felonies. On April 3, she was released on a $5,000 surety bond pending legal proceedings.

Other suspects Isaiah Cornelius Gates-Watts of Fairburn and Aziz Lewis of Marietta faced identical counts, including felonious gun possession. Gates-Watts was released on $15,000 surety bonds on April 5 and Lewis, who was charged with an adult seat belt violation, on April 3 on $20,000 bonds.

The operation was successful thanks to Sandy Springs policemen A. Keomanyvanh, R.V. Floyd, M.A. Schwarzman, and M.R. Williams. Their dedication to public safety and law enforcement has removed hazardous narcotics and weapons from the neighborhood, making it safer for everyone.
