Cardinals’ Former Cobb High School Baseball Star Makes Memorable MLB Debut

On Thursday, the St. Louis Cardinals welcomed former McEachern High School football star Victor Scott II into Major League Baseball. This fulfilled a desire of the 23-year-old outfielder and served as evidence of his family’s and community’s support, perseverance, and diligence.

After his debut, Scott conveyed his thanks and enthusiasm on social media, capturing the day’s importance. “March 28, 2024. That day was memorable! I am very grateful for God’s blessings during this journey. Many thanks to everyone who helped me get here. Leh do it Cards #11, “he wrote, beaming with gratitude.

As a Powder Springs native, Scott played baseball and basketball at McEachern High School before joining the MLB. Scott was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the fifth round of the 2022 MLB Draft after impressing talent evaluators with his intention to play baseball at West Virginia University.

Scott’s MLB debut was a proud event for his parents, Victor and Mary Scott. As former athletes, they taught their kid work ethic and sports love early on. Seeing their son play in the Cardinals’ season opening against the Dodgers in Los Angeles, they cheered him on.

In Cobb County, friends and relatives turned out at Taco Mac in Hiram to support Scott. Summer Bell’s daughter had been dating Scott for seven years after meeting at McEachern. Bell said Scott’s accomplishment meant a lot to the community. “Our McEachern baseball team is playing, else they would be here. I told them I wouldn’t be there today since you only reach the majors once “she said, emphasizing Scott’s uncommon achievement.
