A tragic incident at a Cumberland hotel has led to a murder indictment for an Atlanta man, Donte Leon Hale, in connection with the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Demarcus Watson on November 28.
According to reports, the shooting occurred at approximately 11:40 a.m. at the Budgetel Inns & Suites – Atlanta Galleria Stadium, situated near the intersection of Circle 75 Parkway and Windy Hill Road. Demarcus Watson lost his life as a result of the handgun fire allegedly discharged by Hale.
Details surrounding the motive or circumstances of the shooting remain unclear, as the warrant for Hale’s arrest does not provide further insight into the incident. However, this indictment comes after Hale was previously indicted in February 2023 for possession of cocaine and marijuana with intent to distribute.
Despite the indictment, Hale eluded authorities for some time. Records from the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office reveal that he was not apprehended in connection with the shooting until December 20, 2023, in Miami, Florida.
