Chamblee Police are actively searching for a man who allegedly exposed himself and assaulted a shopper at the Whole Foods Market on Peachtree Boulevard last Saturday afternoon.
Dr. Sabine Lovell, a plastic surgeon, recounted the disturbing encounter that occurred shortly after she finished a Pilates class and stopped by the store to buy groceries. While bending down to pick up some chips, Lovell felt something unusual on her back. Initially, she thought it was a spilled beverage, but when she turned around, she was horrified to see a man zipping up his pants.
“At first, I thought someone had spilled coffee on me. But then I turned around and saw this man zip up his pants. With context clues, I realized what happened,” Lovell said.
Reacting quickly, Lovell screamed to alert other shoppers and pursued the man as he fled the store. Her loud cries drew attention, and a bystander managed to snap a photo of the suspect’s license plate as he got into his vehicle and drove away.
The police have obtained security camera footage of the incident and are working to identify the “person of interest.” Lovell, who got a clear look at the assailant, noted that he was not wearing any disguise, such as a mask, hoodie, or hat, which should aid in his identification.
Determined to prevent the man from harming anyone else, Lovell expressed her resolve to ensure he is caught. “It was so brazen…3 p.m. on a Saturday at a packed Whole Foods. It was absolutely horrifying and disgusting. Just unreal. I’m sure he’s a repeat offender. I don’t want him to do this to anyone else in the future,” she stated.
