Trump Gearing Up to ‘Set World on Fire’: How The Don’s Energy Secretary Pick Spells Disaster For Climate Change Battle

Another day, another contentious cabinet choice by President-elect Donald Trump, whose choices continue to perplex and infuriate Americans.

According to Knewz.com, Trump’s appointment of Chris Wright as his Energy Secretary might be detrimental to the fight against climate change, as activists claim it’s an indication that he intends to “set the world on fire” by implementing his unrelenting “drill baby drill” fossil fuels strategy.

In a statement released over the weekend, the incoming president announced that Wright, a Liberty Energy drilling firm CEO and donor, will head the agency.

He revealed: “Chris has been a prominent energy technologist and entrepreneur. He has experience in geothermal, nuclear, solar, and oil & gas.

Most importantly, Chris was a pioneer in the American Shale Revolution, which revolutionized global energy markets and geopolitics and drove American energy independence.

The 78-year-old also said that Wright will be a member of a newly established Council of National Energy, which is being run by Doug Burgum, his choice for Interior secretary.

In order to increase oil and gas output, the council will focus on reducing regulations and boosting investments.

Trump continues to boast about his new cabinet selection, but those worried about the nation’s climate future are less than thrilled.

“There is no such thing as clean energy or dirty energy,” Wright declared in a 2023 video, denying the existence of a climate problem. Every energy source affects the planet in both positive and negative ways.

“There isn’t a climate crisis, and we’re not going through an energy transition either,” he continued. Without carbon dioxide, humans and all other forms of sophisticated life on Earth would be impossible. Therefore, it is absurd to use the term “carbon pollution.”

In an effort to set the nation on a better course, President Joe Biden even announced new sanctions for gas leaks from the domestic fossil fuel industry and stopped granting licenses for gas exports.

But Trump and Wright are supposed to reverse those rulings.

If America is not doing much to combat climate change, other nations will follow suit, according to climate scientists, some of whom have referred to Wright’s appointment as “disastrous.”

Many observers, including Darren Woods, the CEO of Exxon, have stated that the country’s oil and natural gas production will not alter in response to the election’s outcome, despite Trump’s desire to boost fossil fuel production in the US.

Trump has upset many people with his cabinet choices, and this is not the only one.

Among the former reality star’s choices are Fox News personality Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense and Matt Gaetz as U.S. Attorney General. He also chose Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and selected Kristi Noem as Secretary of Homeland Security.

Trump also announced last week that he has selected Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a former Independent presidential candidate, to head the Department of Health and Human Services.

Kennedy’s anti-vaccine activism sparked outrage.

In a statement, President Trump said: “Mr. Kennedy will restore these Agencies to the traditions of Gold Standard Scientific Research, and beacons of Transparency, to end the Chronic Disease epidemic, and to Make America Great and Healthy Again!”
