The border ranch that was purchased to serve as the location of the proposed detention center to support Donald Trump’s threatened “mass deportation” operation was recently announced by the Texas General Land Office.
According to information obtained by Knewz.com, the Texas acreage Commissioner is currently looking for more acreage to support the impending federal mass deportation operations.
The Starr County Ranch, situated approximately 40 miles west of the border city of McAllen on the borders of Rio Grande City, was unveiled by Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham on Tuesday, November 26.
According to acquisition paperwork examined by reporters, Buckingham’s agency paid $3.82 million for the 1,402-acre border ranch in October.
Notably, the ranch is part of a wall that the state of Texas has been building along the southern border.
Andrea Kate Sheerin, the ranch’s former owner, had resisted the building of the property’s border wall. Buckingham chastised Sheering for “blocking” the border wall project on her ranch during Tuesday’s reveal of the proposed location of the deportation detention center.
According to reports, Sheerin’s judgment “contributed to drug trafficking and illegal crossings into Texas,” as claimed by the Texas Land Commissioner.
The 1.5-mile portion of the border wall that runs through the ranch should be finished by next week, Buckingham told the journalists.
Operation Lone Star, Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s immigration crackdown initiative, includes the construction of the border wall.
Along the southern border, miles of obstacles and hundreds of police and troops were deployed as part of the Texas governor’s border mission.
Trump’s “border czar” nominee Tom Homan stated that the Texas property will be utilized as a deportation detention center, although he has not yet said whether the facility will be a temporary setup with tents or a permanent one.
Speaking on Fox & Friends on November 26, Homan stated that rather than waiting until January 2025, when Trump will formally take office, he and Governor Abbott had already started organizing the mass deportation operation.
Notably, Homan was the “architect of the first TrumpWhite House’s ‘zero tolerance’ policy toward immigration,” according to sources, and previously held the position of acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement during the first term of the Trump Presidency.
“Let me be clear: There is going to be a mass deportation because we just finished a mass illegal immigration crisis on the border,” stated Trump’s border czar in a recent statement.
Homan made a commitment to “help Abbott finish the job he started,” perhaps alluding to Operation Lone Star, when he spoke to the media on Tuesday.
Notably, Governor Abbott’s statement earlier in 2024 contradicts his claims that the border mission was a great success.
During his testimony before a Texas Senate subcommittee dominated by Republicans, the governor of Texas noted that troops stationed at the border were experiencing low morale and pointed to “humanitarian concerns and ballooning costs.”
Notably, the American Civil Liberties Union and the Department of Justice in the Joe Biden administration had filed a lawsuit against the state of Texas, claiming that “the law interferes with the federal government’s authority over immigration,” according to sources.
However, in their remarks on November 26, Abbott and Hamon presented the border situation under the Biden administration as an unprecedented threat.
Land Commissioner Buckingham’s department, the General Land Office of Texas, said it is now seeking to find, but not yet purchase, more land in Texas to support the anti-immigration activities of the incoming Trump administration.
In a statement, Buckingham stated, “We want to be good partners with the Trump administration if they think it’ll be helpful.”
Reports state that her department is currently in charge of over 13 million acres of land.
