Ohio authorities detained a middle schooler after discovering an airsoft weapon in his rucksack.
The Miami Trace Local School in Fayette County was visited by sheriff’s deputies at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday. This was in response to a kid informing the school resource officer (SRO) that another student possessed a firearm, as reported by the sheriff’s office.
The deputies arrived, and the children were told to remain in their classrooms.
The SRO took the 12-year-old off the run, put a lock on his bag, and discovered what turned out to be an airsoft gun.
As the deadly heatwave persists, schools have announced early dismissals and closures.
The Dayton neighborhood was alerted by SWAT.
