Authorities have identified the woman found shot to death early Thursday morning as 25-year-old Area Barnett. The tragic discovery was made by a movie production crew around 5:30 a.m. near Collier Drive and Harwell Road, close to Interstate 285.
The production crew was driving on Collier Drive when they noticed Barnett’s body lying in the middle of the street and immediately called 911. Police arrived at the scene shortly after and found that Barnett had been shot multiple times.
Investigators believe that Barnett was at a nearby bus stop with the suspect at the time of the shooting. However, no information regarding potential suspects has been released.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Barnett’s identity later that day. As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
