Jon Bent Ramsey, the father of the six-year-old beauty queen who was murdered, asserts that his daughter’s killer was a hired assassin.
According to Knewz.com, John Ramsey, 80, was informed that the suspect, who went under the name David Cooper, was a professional murderer employed by a disgruntled former employee of the company.
More than 20 years ago, Cooper called Ramsey and confessed to his crime. He gave him terrifying details about the murder of Jon Ben T., whose body was discovered in the basement of the family home in Boulder, Colorado, but they were never made public.
On Ramsey’s desk, he even mentioned particular objects in the house, such as a red model aeroplane.
Ramsey, who spoke on the Netflix documentary Cold Case: Who Killed JonBen Ramsey, criticized incompetent police officers for not thoroughly looking into Cooper’s connection.
Ramsey stated: “My first goal in speaking with him was to determine whether he was the murderer who entered our home.
“I inquired as to whether a model airplane was there on my desk and what color it was. “Red,” he added. “Okay,” I replied, “the color is red.”
“So, I was thinking this guy is legit, and I called the police but they weren t interested in following up on it.”
Ramsey also mentioned Cooper told him that on December 25, 1996, he entered his house covertly through an unlocked side door and hid in the closet in the basement until the family had gone to bed.
“He says he killed JonBen t and wrote the infamous ransom note, and the unmatched DNA evidence found on JonBen t’s body will match him,” stated Ollie Grey, the Ramseys’ late private investigator, just before he passed away.
Boulder police unexpectedly ordered Ramsey to perform their duties for them in spite of these overwhelming details, even going so far as to suggest that he hauled Cooper in for self-interrogation.
He stated: “They told me, ‘Why don’t you come in, and we ll meet with him,’ and I was like, great, that’s a real encouraging response.”
Even Ramsey’s own private detectives did not take Cooper seriously, which only made him more miserable.
He stated: “I was willing to send him money (to pay for a flight to Boulder) on the off chance he was legitimate, but my attorney told me to wait.”
According to Ramsey, a private investigator that his lawyer had engaged at the time concluded Cooper lacked credibility.
“I don t know why they concluded that,” he replied.
But Ramsey disclosed last month that he got a letter from a woman in Louisiana, where Cooper is known to have resided, alleging that her husband killed JonBen T.
According to Ramsey, “I haven’t called her yet, but I will.”
