Two new eyewitness reports have recently given the Natalie Wooddeath case a major shock.
According to Knewz.com, the fresh data might be sufficient to restart the long-running case.
Before going missing from the yacht Splendour off California’s Catalina Island on November 28, 1981, the actress allegedly screamed for her life and was physically tortured by her husband, Robert Wagner, according to two fresh witnesses.
“The case will remain open as long as Robert Wagner is alive because he is the suspect,” disclosed Marti Rulli, author of the upcoming book Natalie Wood and the Devil She Knew.
“I still hold hope theLos AngelesDA will see fit to let the strong previous evidence, and the new evidence I have gathered, bring justice for Natalie’smurder.”
It is anticipated that Rulli will include fresh witness testimony in her book.
The author claims that the new witnesses came forward following the reopening of the case in 2011 and the subsequent modification of the cause of death from “accidental drowning” to “drowning and other undetermined factors” by the Los Angeles County coroner.
“At the time, the case was declared an accident so quickly that they just ignored what they saw or heard,” she continued, explaining why the witnesses had not spoken up sooner.
Rulli and Dennis Davern, the captain of the yacht, had previously coauthored Goodbye Natalie, Goodbye Splendour.
A 17-year-old man who worked on a fishing boat anchored close to the yacht and was one of the witnesses said he still finds it hard to believe what he witnessed that evening.
“It still bothers him, and he wanted to tell me what he knew,” Rulli added. He told me that he felt uneasy after hearing an argument and Natalie’s screaming. However, he believed it to be a clear-cut drowning case, therefore he chose not to report it to the authorities.
In the meantime, Wood was accused of having an affair with her Brainstorm co-star Christopher Walken, who was also aboard the yacht at the time, by Davern, who had earlier told authorities that Wagner had done so.
Just before she disappeared, Davern said, an enraged Wagner threw a bottle of wine on a table and started a brawl with the 43-year-old Wood.
Wagner said, “Get off my f—— boat!” according to Davern. Additionally, Davern said Wagner prevented him from requesting assistance or turning on the searchlights until four hours after Wood vanished.
The following morning, the beaten body of the Hollywood star was discovered onshore.
Rulli disclosed that an 80-year-old woman who said she was working with Wood in the 1960s when Wagner mistreated the Hollywood star also got in touch with her.
She told me: “She said she saw Wagner come into their dressing room additional evidence of abuse.”
Wagner’s attorneys dispute that he was involved in Wood’s demise.
According to a 2022 comment, Davern pushed the District Attorney to reconsider the matter, stating that “Robert Wagner needs to go before a grand jury (and) they should present the facts.”
He went on: “You know, what’s fair is fair. Give Natalie peace of mind in addition to a voice. This man needs to appear before a grand jury, put his face out there, and look everyone in the face because he done something wrong.
“How could [Wagner] just sit there and lie so blatantly and let the people make the decision? What a bit of filth he is.
