In a significant development, two minors and a parent have been charged in connection with the tragic drowning death of 8-year-old Noah Bush earlier this year in Jesup, Georgia. The incident, which initially appeared to be a tragic accident, has garnered widespread attention and led to serious legal consequences.
Noah Bush was found dead in mid-May in a pit filled with water, located in Jesup, approximately 67 miles from Savannah. Initially, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office did not suspect foul play, as an autopsy revealed no physical injuries and determined the cause of death to be drowning. However, the case took a dramatic turn as community members and advocates, including Tierani Smith, demanded justice and expressed concerns about the circumstances surrounding Noah’s death.
Following a more in-depth investigation, authorities charged two juveniles: a 10-year-old and an 11-year-old. Both have been charged with concealing the death of another person and criminal trespassing. Additionally, the 11-year-old faces charges of involuntary manslaughter and simple battery. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Mike Hargrove revealed that the 10-year-old has been sentenced to two years in a youth detention center.
According to Attorney Francys Johnson, who represents Noah’s family, the incident unfolded after an argument between Noah and the two juveniles. Allegedly, the altercation led to the juveniles pushing Noah into the water and potentially holding his head underwater, resulting in his tragic drowning.
The case remains under investigation, with authorities scrutinizing audio and video evidence to determine if any adult involvement, specifically from the parents, may have played a role. Reports indicate that the mother of the 11-year-old has been charged with giving false statements related to the case.
