CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
Newly filed court documents have revealed that Charlotte Mecklenburg Police arrested two men over the Labor Day weekend, who they believed to be connected to more than half a dozen burglaries in August.
A search of the Mecklenburg County jail showed that Basil King, 60, and Alexander Phifer, 30, were arrested on multiple allegations of Breaking and/or Entering, Larceny After Break/Enter, and Felony Conspiracy.
According to law enforcement, the two men targeted multiple stores between August 13, and August 18th, in which more than $4,000 worth of items were stolen.
Court documents detail that CMPD officers believed they stole $1,697.95 worth of cigarettes and beer from a 7-11 stores on Brookshire Boulevard, and then $307.29 worth of cigars and fruit from a Food Lion along Tuckaseegee Road, roughly three miles away.
Fewer than 24 hours later, the pair are believed to have taken $1,000 worth of liquor from the Runaway Street Bar along Thrift Road.

Court records indicated that authorities had not connected the pair to any new crimes on August 14.
However, on August 16, police have reason to believe they stole $286 worth of lottery tickets from a gas station along Eastyway Drive near NoDa; on August 17 roughly $160 from a gas station along Brookshire Boulevard; on August 18 roughly $320 of various alcohol and tobacco products from a gas station in the Steele Creek area of Charlotte; and on August 18 roughly $320 of cigarettes and lottery tickets from a 7-11 along Little Rock Road.
CMPD officers were able to obtain warrants for the two men almost ten days after their alleged last burglary.
According to online records, both men remain in the Mecklenburg County Jail.
King has been hit with a bond of $10,500, while Phifer is being held without bond.
