After disclosing the tragic death of his cherished cat, Bobo, in the Malibu wildfire, legendary actor Dick Van Dyke has generated additional health concerns.
The 99-year-old Mary Poppins star and her 53-year-old wife, Arlene Silver, were compelled to escape for their lives due to the destructive, swift-moving fires, according to Knewz.com.
In the midst of the chaos, Van Dyke informed solemnly that one of his family’s cats had escaped during the evacuation rush, causing a new tragedy.
Van Dyke posted the following on Facebook, along with a photo of Bobo: “Arlene and I have successfully evacuated with our animals, with the exception of Bobo, who escaped as we were leaving.
“We’re praying he’ll be ok and that our community in Serra Retreat will survive these terrible fires.”
Insiders claim that the veteran has been pushed to the brink by the death of his cherished cat, the stress of the wildfires, and having to evacuate his house.
According to a source, “Dick is devastated; this isn’t what an old man who is almost 99 years old needs.”
His loved ones are concerned because the ordeal has driven him to the brink.
“He s very frail and the stress won t help.”
The extent of the fires, which have erupted in Southern California as a result of strong Santa Ana winds, will determine the cat’s chances.
Superstar singer Cher, who also resides in the neighborhood and was just evacuated due to the wildfire, is one of the several celebrities impacted by the blaze.
On Monday night, her publicist disclosed that the celebrity had relocated to a hotel with her dogs.
In September, RadarOnline.com reported how Van Dyke’s decision to boycott this year’s Emmy Awards, despite being scheduled to present, caused anxiety throughout Hollywood.
According to a concerned insider, the actor “lives for these sorts of events at this point in his life” and has maintained a busy schedule despite his advanced age.
The insider clarified: “He is glad to see many of his pals, even though getting about is getting harder for him. He enjoys connecting with the public and being among them.
“So, it’s extremely concerning when he fails to show up for something like the Emmys, especially since he’s agreed to be a presenter.”
As a devoted professional, Van Dyke personified the show business maxim, “The show must go on no matter what.”
“Unless something really serious had happened, it’s not like Dick at all to not meet a prior obligation,” the insider said.
“That’s why his absence is so alarming.”
It was also revealed how Van Dyke, who almost died when he crashed his car into a gate in Malibu last year, is so plagued with fears about his mortality he begged God to let him make it to his 99th birthday.
And when asked if he had any plans for the milestone, on December 13, the silver screen veteran poignantly admitted: “Just praying that I make it.”
When he was also asked how he was feeling as he walked to his vehicle, Van Dyke rasped: “I’m very old.”
The actor also pulled out of attending the FanX event from September 26 to 29 in Salt Lake City, just before he admitted he was praying he lives another few months.
