A disturbing case out of Cherokee County has ended with a life sentence for a man convicted of killing his wife and attempting to murder her teenage son.
Kelvin Demond Williams, 48, was found guilty on 13 charges, including malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, attempted murder, and cruelty to children. He has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, along with an additional 100 years and 12 months.
Deadly Night Inside a Woodstock Home
Prosecutors say the shooting took place on July 13, 2025, at a home in the Woodstock area.
The victim, Tenisha Williams, 48, was killed during a violent incident that also placed her 16-year-old son in grave danger.
The teenager managed to call 911 during the attack, telling dispatchers that his stepfather had shot his mother and fired at him, warning that the suspect might still be armed and reloading.
A younger child, just four years old, was asleep in another room during the shooting.
Video Captures Terrifying Moments
According to prosecutors, home security footage documented the sequence of events inside the house.
Investigators say Williams first fired at the teen, then turned the weapon toward his wife. Several shots were fired before the final gunfire proved fatal.
Off-camera, Tenisha Williams could reportedly be heard pleading for her life, begging her husband not to shoot.
Moments later, after the shooting, Williams was heard making a chilling remark: “You dead?”
Arrest at the Scene
When deputies arrived, they found Williams standing near the entrance of the home, close to an open garage, smoking a cigarette.
He was taken into custody without incident.
Inside, officers discovered Tenisha Williams on the kitchen floor, along with the firearm used in the attack.
Pattern of Control and Abuse
During the trial, prosecutors described a history of control within the relationship.
They alleged that Williams closely monitored his wife’s movements and limited her interactions with others. In a disturbing detail, officials said that on the day of the shooting, Tenisha had purchased the firearm that was later used to kill her.
Emotional Testimony and Lasting Impact
The case included testimony from multiple witnesses, as well as evidence such as surveillance footage and the 911 call.
Prosecutors emphasized the lasting trauma inflicted on the children who were present during the incident, calling the crime both devastating and preventable.
District Attorney Susan K. Treadaway said the sentence reflects the seriousness of the crime and underscores that the victim’s life mattered.
Appeal Expected
Defense attorneys have indicated that Williams plans to appeal the conviction, arguing that the sentence was too severe.
However, for the victim’s family and the community, the verdict brings a measure of justice in a case marked by violence and heartbreak.
A Tragic Reminder
The case stands as a stark reminder of the dangers of domestic violence and the devastating consequences it can have on families.
While the legal process may continue through appeals, the loss of Tenisha Williams has left a permanent impact on those who knew her—especially the children who witnessed the tragedy unfold.
