A major roadway near Woodstock remains closed for an extended period after a semi-truck carrying a dump trailer overturned Saturday morning, spilling its contents across the highway.
The crash occurred along Route 120 between Fleming Road and Thompson Road, where the vehicle rolled onto its side and completely blocked traffic in both directions.
Emergency Crews Respond to Serious Crash
Authorities say the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene around 10:10 a.m. following reports of a crash involving possible entrapment.
While crews were en route, additional information confirmed that a semi-truck had overturned, prompting a larger emergency response.
Road Completely Blocked
Upon arrival, first responders found the truck lying on its side across the roadway, leaving Route 120 entirely impassable.
The overturned vehicle’s dump trailer released a large amount of milled asphalt and other materials, which spread across the highway along with fluids from the truck.
Officials say the debris created hazardous driving conditions, making it necessary to shut down the road in both directions.
