Woodstock police are sending a clear message ahead of the weekend: disruptive “street takeover” events will not be allowed in the city.
The warning comes after officials became aware of social media posts promoting a so-called “Downtown Woodstock Street Takeover” scheduled for Friday night. Authorities say they are closely monitoring the situation and preparing to respond if necessary.

Street takeovers — sometimes referred to as “teen takeovers” — have surfaced across metro Atlanta and other parts of the country in recent weeks.

In a social media statement, Woodstock Police emphasized that while peaceful and lawful gatherings are permitted, illegal or dangerous behavior will not be overlooked.
“This will not be tolerated in Woodstock. While lawful gatherings are permitted, reckless driving, racing, burnouts, blocking traffic, disorderly conduct, and other violations of the law will result in enforcement action,” the department stated.
Officials clarified that anyone — regardless of age — who engages in unlawful activity could face arrest or citations.
