A 26-year-old man has been found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the killing of his friend, 20-year-old Blake Porter. The incident occurred in late October 2020, off Delk Road in Cobb County, Georgia.
The conviction of Kehari Yarber, the perpetrator of the crime, was largely supported by surveillance footage obtained from nearby apartment complexes and gas stations. The footage captured the victim, Blake Porter, entering a wooded area with an unknown individual on the evening of October 30, 2020. Shortly thereafter, muzzle flashes were observed on the video, indicative of the fatal shooting.
Throughout the investigation, family members of the victim described the murderer, Kehari Yarber, as a close friend of Blake Porter, often referred to as his “twin.” This revelation added a layer of complexity to the case and highlighted the betrayal felt by those close to the victim.
In a courtroom decision that brought closure to the loved ones of Blake Porter, Superior Court Judge Rob Leonard sentenced Kehari Yarber to life in prison without the possibility of parole, along with an additional five years to be served consecutively. This sentence ensures that Yarber will be held accountable for the senseless act of violence that claimed Porter’s life.
Senior Assistant District Attorneys Stephanie Green and Erman Tanjuatco led the prosecution’s case, presenting a compelling argument supported by forensic video analysis, witness testimony, and social media records. Their diligent efforts played a crucial role in securing the guilty verdict against Yarber.
Cobb District Attorney Flynn Broady Jr. expressed gratitude for the dedication of law enforcement and the thorough work of the prosecution team in securing justice for Blake Porter and his loved ones. Broady reaffirmed the office’s commitment to pursuing justice for victims and holding perpetrators of violence accountable.
The journey from the discovery of Blake Porter’s body to the conviction of Kehari Yarber was marked by meticulous investigation and unwavering determination on the part of law enforcement and prosecutors. Through the examination of surveillance footage, gathering of witness testimony, and analysis of forensic evidence, justice was ultimately served.
