Fans are telling Carrie Underwood that she has done them a favor by playing at Donald Trump’s inauguration.
The country artist will be performing America the Beautiful, according to a preview of the January 20th inauguration that was made public by Knewz.com.
After political reporter Matthew Foldi shared the lineup on X, the new American Idoljudge received a lot of criticism.
“A bit surprised about Underwood, she has been part of the dislike Trump parade,” one angry person wrote, while another added, “You should be ashamed!”
Someone wrote: “Disgusting, never thought she’d sink that low,” according to another, “It’s incredibly outrageous that Carrie Underwood would show up to play at Trump’s inauguration….”
Some of Trump’s most devoted fans also backed Underwood in spite of the criticism.
After J.D. Vanceis administered the Vice Presidential Oath of Office, the 41-year-old is scheduled to perform.
In 2019, Underwood stated to The Guardian that she has never been forthcoming about politics, saying, “I try to stay far out of politics if possible, at least in public, because nobody wins.”
“I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” Underwood wrote in a statement she posted after the criticism, defending her choice.
“At a time when we must all unite in the spirit of unity and look to the future, I am humbled to answer the call.
Eight years after Trump failed to secure any major acts for his first Inauguration, settling for 3 Doors Down, Toby Keith, Big & Rich, and America’s Got Talent runner-up Jackie Evancho, Underwood is scheduled to play. But it appears that this time around, things will be different.
“President Trump is committed to bringing the nation together through the strength, security, and opportunity of his America First agenda,” said a statement from co-chairs Steve Witkoff and Kelly Loeffler of the inaugural committee.
“The 2025 inaugural celebrations will reflect President-elect Trump s historic return to theWhite Houseand the American people s decisive vote to Make America Great Again.”
Tea at the White House, the swearing-in ceremony at the Capitol, a congressional luncheon, and a parade on Pennsylvania Avenue are all part of the 78-year-old’s Inauguration Day schedule.
A National Prayer Service will be held in the morning of Trump’s first full day as the 47th president. The former reality star will then go out to take the oath, followed by a performance by country music artist Lee Greenwood.
All of this follows Trump’s “unconditional discharge,” which means the president-elect will not face jail time, a hefty fine, or probation, as part of his punishment in the hush money case.
34 counts of manipulating company records were previously convicted of the notorious politician.
“The Radical Democrats have lost another pathetic, unAmerican Witch Hunt,” Trump said on Truth Social, despite avoiding jail time.
“After spending tens of millions of dollars, wasting over 6 years of obsessive work that should have been spent on protectingNew Yorkersfrom violent, rampant crime that is destroying the City and State, coordinating with the Biden/Harris Department of Injustice in lawless Weaponization, and bringing completely baseless, illegal, and fake charges against your 45th and 47th President, ME, I was given a UNCONDITIONAL DISCHARGE.”
