Why Shop Consignment Stores?

July 8, 2016

On page 25 of this month’s issue, we listed local consignment sales, but some of you might be thinking, ‘Why would you shop at a consignment sale when there are so many other options?’ There are a number of reasons!

  1. More Affordable

When you shop at second-hand venues, your get more for your money. On average, consignment goods are generally 50%  cheaper.

  1. The Thrill of the Huntconsignments

Each time you enter a consignment sale, you aren’t sure what you’re going to find. Each new sale is a new possibility and every find is that much more rewarding because you “found a gem.”

  1. Your Money Goes to Support Nonprofits & Ministries

When you shop at a local consignment store your money goes to the store owner, keeping it within the community. When you shop at churches and nonprofits, your money goes to help individuals and families in our community.

4. It’s Easier to Spot Quality

Since most of the merchandise you come across has already been broken in, you can see what has quality and what does not. Practical and affordable.

  1. It’s Green

When you buy used goods, you help cut down on manufacturing demands and keep more items out of the landfill. The average American tosses 82 lbs of clothing each year and it can take up to 200 years for a textile garment to biograde! By shopping at consignment sales, you increase the garment’s life cycle and you’re helping our planet.

  1. Brand Names

If you’re one who loves brand names, consignment sales are the most affordable way to get the labels you love at the price you love even more.
