Upcoming Events: 11Alive, Friday Night Live and the The River Wing & Rock Fest

May 29, 2012

This weekend alone, downtown Woodstock will be home to a handful of rocking events! Be sure to head on out to one of the great events planned for this weekend to show your support of all the great things Woodstock is working on.

Friday Night Live

It’s time for the monthly Friday Night Live celebration, kicking off the month of June this Friday with the “Main Street Luau” theme. To really get you in the spirit, various downtown stores will be handing out Hawaiian leis, and many will feature live music at their storefronts.

Vendors this month for Friday Night Live include Fire Stone Wood Fired Pizza and Grill, Seven Arrows, Cupcakelicious, Foxtale Book Shoppe, and Heartworks Studio and Roomscapes Gallery, to name a few. To vies the entire participating merchants list, view the event page here.

Elm Street Cultural Arts Village will feature Teen Arts Night from 6-8pm at the City Center.
Sponsored by Elm Street’s Teen Arts Guild (TAG). Encourage your teens to bring an instrument, a karaoke cd, poetry,  artwork, or short stories to share with other creative, arts-minded teens. $5 cash at the door provides a slice of pizza and a soda at intermission. Ages 13-15 will need to have a parent sign them in and out at the door. Then, at 9:00pm, the iThink Improv Troupe will perform improv comedy. Come get some laughs! All seats are $5 each. For more information on either event, visit www.elmstreetarts.org

11Alive Morning Show

In addition to Friday Night Live, 11Alive is bringing its morning show live to Woodstock this Friday. Ted Hall, Karyn Greer and Donna Lowry will broadcast live from Woodstock City Park from 4:30 a.m. until 7:00 a.m.

The morning news crew will spotlight local businesses and activities and share stories about the city’s residents and history. Wake the kids up early for a chance to see their faces on television!

7th Annual 97.1 The River Wing & Rock Fest

This Saturday and Sunday, 97.1 The River’s Annual Wing & Rock Fest will be taking place in downtown Woodstock! The event starts on Saturday from Noon until 10:00pm, and on Sunday from Noon to 7:00pm. The festival will feature wings from restaurants all over metro Atlanta, like Buffalo Wild Wings, RuChDa, Keegan’s Public House, California Dreaming and others, as well as cold beer and other beverages, and will have continuous live music all day.

The River Wing & Rock Fest will feature a Kidzone with multiple jumpers and slides, as well as a wing-eating contest! This will be a rain or shine event, located in Woodstock City Park, and admission is free, but no outside food or drink is allowed. For more information on the Wing & Rock Fest, visit their website here.
