Tragedy Strikes Powder Springs: 19-Year-Old Fatally Shot During Altercation

A verbal altercation escalated into a fatal shooting in Powder Springs, leaving one young man dead and another in custody, as authorities continue to pursue additional suspects involved in the altercation.

Powder Springs Police Chief Lane Caldwell revealed that the altercation, which began as a verbal dispute, quickly turned physical and tragically ended in gunfire. The police department has issued several warrants for individuals believed to have been involved in the altercation that led to the deadly shooting.

The incident unfolded around 7:30 p.m. in the Lost Lakes neighborhood off Shipp Road, where officers arrived to find 19-year-old Fabrice Robelin suffering from a gunshot wound to the head and neck. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, Robelin was pronounced dead at the scene, casting a pall of sorrow over the community.

As officers responded to the scene, another call alerted them to a nearby residence where a man had confessed to the shooting. Police swiftly apprehended 18-year-old Coledye Warnock in the vicinity of Nectar Drive, recovering a semi-automatic firearm during his arrest.

Warnock now faces a litany of charges, including murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm, tampering with evidence, possession of an altered firearm, and misdemeanor fighting in public. He remains detained at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond, awaiting further legal proceedings.

Despite Warnock’s arrest, the investigation remains ongoing, with authorities anticipating additional arrests as they delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
