Teen Faces Charges in Connection with Incident at Sprayberry High School

After a stabbing that badly injured an 18-year-old student at Sprayberry High School, a 17-year-old is in arrest. Cobb County Police have charged Marietta resident Aedan Connor Smith with aggravated assault and school safety zone weapon possession.

Cobb Police responded quickly to allegations of a school stabbing after 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday. Sgt. Eric Smith, Cobb Police spokeswoman, said witnesses reported that Aedan Smith flashed a knife in a school bathroom and inflicted multiple puncture wounds on Marietta student Earl Nichols.

Sgt. Smith said Nichols, who was critically injured, was quickly taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for emergency surgery. The victim’s injuries and the urgency of the situation demanded medical attention.

Both Cobb Schools Police and Cobb Police pursued leads to identify and apprehend the suspects after the incident. Witness testimony made Aedan Smith the major suspect, who was quickly arrested.

Aedan Smith was arrested and sent to the Cobb County Adult Detention Center after an intense interview at Cobb County Police Headquarters. Jail records show he is on a $10,220 bond pending judicial proceedings.
