Tails, Trails, and Petiquette in Woodstock

March 27, 2015

Woofstock Park is a popular destination for pet owners conveniently located between downtown and the Towne Lake portion of Woodstock at 150 Dupree Road. With the spring upon us, and the official ribbon cutting marking the opening of the Woofstock Park Trail Head, it is likely that the park will be a busy destination for dog lovers. While it is incredibly tempting to visit the park with your dog, it is important to follow simple guidelines as a pet owner to make the experience the best it can be for both you and your pooch.Bichon maltais blanc assis & coquin sur fond blanc

Before visiting, make sure you look over basic rules of thumb shared by Bark Station owner Lorre LaMarca in her March article titled, “Dog Park Etiquette 101.” We like to combine the dictionary definition of etiquette as, “the customary code of polite behavior in society or among members of a particular profession or group,” with these suggested guidelines. Combined, we call this petiquette.

These guidelines will be especially important this season with easier access to Woofstock Park now that it connects the Town to Creek and Noonday Creek trails. Which guideline do you believe is the most important to keep in mind when visiting the park with man’s best friend? We want to hear from you. Let us know in the comments below or share with us onon Twitter and Facebook. And don’t forget to visit Woofstock Park’s Facebook page for all updates pertaining to the park that is especially for our four legged friends.
