In Springdale on Friday morning, a car slammed into a structure and then struck a gas line; the cause of the crash is under investigation by the Cincinnati Police Department.
A building on East Kemper Road was struck by a car at about 11:20 a.m. According to officials, Duke Energy has been contacted to turn off the gas.
An inquiry into the crash’s cause has been initiated by the Springdale Police Department. No official conclusions have been made yet, but preliminary assessments indicate that mechanical failure or weather conditions may have been factors. To help piece together what happened, investigators are questioning witnesses and reviewing footage from surrounding cameras.
The damaged building is currently off-limits to occupants pending the results of a structural evaluation. To assess the damage and initiate the required repairs, the property owner has contacted both their insurance provider and local authorities.

The Springdale Police Department is “working diligently” to determine what caused the incident and take all necessary precautions, a representative of the office. “We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation as we continue our investigation.”
