Service comes from the heart, and Rotarians across Area 16 partnered with nonprofits to provide more than 20,000 pounds of food recently. The Truck of Love service project, which included the Rotary Clubs of Towne Lake, Canton, Woodstock, Cherokee County and Jasper, delivered fresh produce to residents in need in Cherokee and Pickens counties.
Rotary’s mission is Service Above Self. Any Rotarian can share their Rotary story, but you’ll find a common theme – service and friendship. People join Rotary for different reasons, but long-term commitment to a club is centered around members feeling welcome and finding their place and purpose.
The Rotary Club of Towne Lake launched a member spotlight social media campaign, and member responses show they found a connection and a purpose in their service to the club and community.

Service projects can’t be done without fundraising, something COVID-19 has curtailed. The Rotary Club of Towne Lake is staying committed to its purpose while maintaining safety. Our biggest fundraiser, Designer Purse & Mancave Bingo, had to be rescheduled multiple times due to state requirements, but the new date is Dec. 11. We appreciate our dedicated supporters, sponsors and venue managers, who have stuck with us through the date changes.
Even sooner than bingo is our first Bags & Brews cornhole tournament to be held in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Cherokee County. Bags & Brews will take place Nov. 7 at Burnt Hickory Brewery. The two Rotary Clubs will equally split the proceeds for their respective club foundation accounts.
The Rotary Club foundations are 501c3 nonprofits, and sponsorships and donations are tax-deductible (always contact your tax professional for tax advice).
