Resumes and More
The Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce is putting on their third annual Resumes and More workshop. This workshop is free, and offers a variety of breakout sessions for those who are seeking employment in Cherokee County or planning on seeking employment in the near future. Visit sessions on making a first positive impression, and what to do and what not to do during an interview and when applying, and on using social media and networking to your advantage. This event is free, and it is open to the public. You are welcome to stop by the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce any time from 10am-4pm on Wednesday, Sept. 24th. In addition to the breakout sessions referenced above, professionals will also be on hand to offer help in polishing interview skills, creating a resume, and to critique existing resumes.
Organization is Key
Guest author Lynne Saunders wrote an article titled, “Tools for Your Job Search Kit,” in the September issue of the Townelaker. Her article is full of advice for those who are currently in the market for a job. Some of the suggestions shared, such as cleaning up social media profiles, go hand in hand with topics that will be addressed at the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce Resumes and More workshop. Additionally, there are age-old tips that have been proven successful over time. These include:
- Professional outfits
- Customizing a resume
- Making sure you have appropriate identification on hand
- Sending a hand-written follow up thank you note
