Townelaker– Safety Town is a cherished annual event returning to Bascomb Elementary School in Cherokee County this summer. The program, designed for Cherokee County students entering kindergarten in the fall, offers invaluable lessons in safety through interactive activities and engaging sessions.
This year, Safety Town will take place on two separate weeks, June 10-14 and June 17-21, from 9 a.m. to noon each day. Hosted by Safe Kids Cherokee County in collaboration with Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services, Safety Town aims to educate children on various safety topics.
Each day, students will participate in interactive lessons and activities facilitated by partner organizations such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Cherokee Sheriff’s Office, Cherokee County Marshal’s Office, Cherokee County School Police, Cherokee County School Bus Transportation, Cherokee County Animal Shelter, and more.
One of the highlights of Safety Town is the miniature town where campers can ride through to learn about traffic safety rules. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to create crafts, play games, and engage in other fun activities that reinforce the safety lessons learned.
