The Marietta community is in mourning after a tragic hit-and-run incident claimed the life of a Marietta High School student. The victim, identified as 17-year-old Emily Harper, was struck by a vehicle while crossing the intersection of Main Street and Maple Avenue on Tuesday evening.
Emily was a beloved member of the senior class, known for her bright smile and active involvement in school activities. Her sudden and tragic death has left classmates, teachers, and family members devastated. Grief counselors have been made available at Marietta High School to support students and staff during this difficult time.
The Marietta Police Department has launched an intensive investigation to locate the driver responsible for the hit-and-run. Surveillance footage from nearby businesses and traffic cameras is being reviewed to identify the vehicle involved. Police urge anyone with information about the incident to come forward to help bring the perpetrator to justice.
Emily’s family has expressed their heartbreak and called on the community for assistance in finding the person responsible. “Our hearts are shattered. Emily was a bright light in our lives, and we are asking anyone who knows anything to please come forward,” said her mother, Sarah Harper.
