With Fall comes the cool weather, festive decorations and yummy smelling candles that I put up on any flat surface I can find in my house. My kids know that when the weather gets cooler, I really start getting into the baking and crafting mood, but before the food starts cooking, I need to have a festive table. I’ve come across some really cute table setting ideas that both the kids and I can make together on an autumn afternoon.
Twig Coasters
I can thank Martha Stewart for this one. These were just too cool not to try! Plus, they make a perfect pair for my pumpkin spice latte (thank you Starbucks!)
What you’ll need:
- 22 Small Straight twigs
- Waxed twine, or string
For each coaster, lay out 22 small straight twigs and trim them to a length of 5 inches. Cut a length of twine to 10 inches and loop the center an inch from the center of the end of the first twig, tying once. Tie the twine around the remaining twigs, one by one. Tie a knot and the end and cut any excess string. Repeat on the other side.
Halloween Tree
This makes a cute table centerpiece and is so simple and inexpensive. My 2 year old loved being able to stick stickers on things.
What you’ll need:
- Christmas ornaments in golds, whites, blacks or any other Fall color.
- Halloween Stickers
- Small twiggy branch or long twigs
- Decorative Pot
- Styrofoam or floral foam
- Black Ribbon
- Black construction paper
Let your kids go sticker-happy all over the ornaments. Stick your tree branches into the foam and place it in the pot so it’s standing upright. For Some pretend dirt, let the kids rip and tear the black construction paper to bits and then sprinkle it all over the inside of the pot. Hang up the ornaments on the branches using the ribbon.
Pumpkin Napkin Rings
The perfect addition to a fall table setting and so easy to make!
What you’ll need:
- Paper Towel or Toilet paper
- Cardboard Roll
- Orange construction paper or 7/8” ribbon
- Green curling ribbon
- Hot Glue Gun or Craft Glue
- Scissors
Cut the cardboard roll into rings that are 7/8” wide. Cut the orange paper/ribbon into 7/8” x 6” strips. Glue the orange paper or ribbon around the cardboard rings. For the stem, cut a 2” length of green ribbon. Glue the 2 ends together and Glue to the top of the cardboard ring, opposite of the seam. For the vine, use scissors to curl the green curling ribbon. Glue to the napkin ring at the base of the stem.
Do you put out Fall Decorations? What’s your favorite Fall decor for around the house?
