Joe Biden Hosts ‘Last Hurrah’ Bash at White House

Over the weekend, President Joe Biden hosted a black-tie affair on the White House’s South Lawn, which many have referred to as the incumbent president’s “last hurrah.”

According to Knewz.com, the President’s friends and supporters, members of Biden’s cabinet, and Democratic presidential campaign financiers were among the attendees at the weekend meal.

Both current and previous ambassadors reportedly attended the ceremony as well.

Tim Walz, the Democratic contender for vice president and governor of Minnesota, attended the dinner with his wife, Glen.

Notably, during his remarks to the audience at the White House dinner on Friday, November 22, President Biden made no reference whatsoever of President-elect Donald Trump.

During his opening remarks, the incumbent president joked that attendees should sit down and refrain from “jumping in the pool.”

“The only reason [First Lady] Jill [Biden] and I are hosting this dinner tonight is to express our gratitude. In his remarks, Biden thanked his many close friends.

“We set out on this adventure to define the light in the darkness and save the nation’s soul. And without you, we could never have accomplished as much as we did, and I never could have reached the point where the White House is today,” the President added.

“It’s not hyperbole, either. With all my heart, I mean it,” he continued.

Giving your name, reputation, and character to this endeavor may have been the most significant thing you have done. Saying we support that administration is not enough. We never forget how grateful we are that you risked everything for us.”

“One thing I’ve always believed about public service and especially the presidency is the importance of asking ourselves: Have we left the country in better shape than we found it?” The President went on.

“Thanks to you, I can honestly state that the answer to that question is a loud ‘yes’ tonight. since you are concerned.

“I admire all of you—our cabinet members and White House employees—who gave their all to their jobs. I also want to express my gratitude to their families for making the sacrifices necessary to make it possible. We may be proud, I think. Biden was cited as adding, “We’re leaving America in a better place.”

The departing president also provided an overview of his 2021–2024 tenure in office during his speech, stating:

“Four years ago, we took office. This nation [went through] the most severe pandemic in more than a century. Our economy was in complete collapse. We just saw something that we never imagined America would ever see. There was a bloody uprising on January 6th, and a lot more has happened since.

“You passed landmark laws that will not only transform America now but also for decades to come, frequently with bipartisan backing. I am aware that I have only existed for a few days or years. According to a transcript released by C-SPAN, he said, “It’s unbelievable how long it has been, but I firmly believe America is better positioned to lead the world today than at any point in my 50 years of public service.”

William Butler Yeats, an Irish poet, is quoted by the President as saying, “Think where man’s glory most begins and ends, and say my glory was I had such friends.”

Speaking of the conclusion of his presidency, Biden added, “As I look out over such threads, serving as president of the United States has been the honor of my life, but all our time and all is coming to an end.”

“Our cause persists. The reason for this is that this is America’s path. We are being called to remain involved, never give up, keep moving forward, and maintain our trust in the America of our dreams.

The guests reportedly referred to the dinner as a “real love fest,” saying it was “sad, but also just a real sense of appreciation for the Bidens.”

“It was absolutely gorgeous,” one of the visitors remarked.

According to a another visitor, “Weirdly, it was also really fun – like a last hurrah.”

It is important to note, though, that some of the Democratic campaign’s largest donors—some of whom contributed $250,000—did not attend the exclusive dinner.

“Insiders who were invited but chose not to attend are calling it the losers party,” a source told the publication Page Six. Many claimed that the humiliating defeat [in the 2024 elections] made them not want to be connected with the Democrats at the moment.

According to the source, some of the contributors were “angry” that the campaign had received $1.5 billion in donations and still “failed,” so they chose not to attend the event.
