January is a Busy Time at CRPA

December 31, 2013

Woodstock InformationCherokee Recreation and Parks Agency (CRPA) has several events scheduled for the month of January.

Cherokee Youth Softball (CYS) spring 2014 registration will run from January 2-24. Late registration will be held January 27-31 (additional cost required). Player assessment day will be February 1 with opening day on Saturday March 15.  CYS plays out of the Twin Creeks Softball Complex at Biello Park.

The Silver Roamers is a group for older members of the Cherokee County community who wish to stay active, healthy, socialize and have fun!  They are holding multiple events in January. Never Roam Alone, will be held on January 8.  The group will meet at the Cherokee County Aquatic Center at 1200 Gresham Mill Parkway in Holly Springs and walk in the Recreational Pool. Check in at the front desk is requested before entering the pool.

The other event in January for the Silver Roamers is a trip to the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta Monetary Museum on January 16. The museum features a display on the history of money; interactive, multimedia exhibits explaining the Federal Reserve’s role in the economy; and a view of the bank’s automated vault and cash processing areas. After the museum tour the group will have lunch at Einsteins in midtown.

Starting in January, morning gymnastics classes will be available at various times for children ages 1 to 12. Cost is $38 for a four-week session. All classes are held at the Recreation Center located at 7545 Main St. in Woodstock.

In addition, CRPA will be hosting its annual Volunteers in Parks Banquet on Thursday, January 23. This special night is to honor all volunteers in our parks from youth sports coaches, gym directors, adaptive/inclusion volunteers, park maintenance volunteers, special event volunteers and more. Former NBA player, Courtney Alexander, will be the keynote speaker.
