Celebrate the 4th of July in Downtown Woodstock! The Independence Day festivities kick off with a HUGE parade at 10a.m. The parade starts at Highway 92 (old Walmart/Furniture for Less Store) and goes north on Main Street through downtown Woodstock to Woodstock Elementary School on Rope Mill Road. Festival. After the parade, the party will continue in The Park at City Center (101 Arnold Mill Road) until 3p.m. with food, live music with Parrot Island Band in the gazebo, children’s games, cake walk, arts and crafts and local vendors of all types.
If you’re in the mood for an early-morning run, you can start your day with a run by participating in the Woodstock Freedom Run, which starts bright and early at 7:30a.m. The Woodstock Freedom Run event will host a 5K, a one-mile run and a kid’s run all in downtown Woodstock. Fireworks will end the day at dusk behind the SuperTarget shopping center at the corner of Highway 92 and I-575.
Looking for more celebrations in Cherokee County? Canton will celebrate during the First Friday event from 3-6p.m. Local duo Penny Rae will be joining the celebration with a concert starting at 4:00p.m. After 6p.m., activities will shift to the Riverstone Plaza area, where DJ Ray Deluca will play music for people gathered for fireworks. An area will be roped off for dancing. Parking will be designated in the plaza and surrounded areas.
