The renovations that began last summer to the baseball facilities at Hobgood Park in Towne Lake are now complete. The completion of the $1.3 million project which was paid for by the countywide parks bond were completed just in time for the new Hobgood baseball season, which began at the end of February.
Included in the project were new lighting, protective foul ball netting for the ball fields, a concession stand makeover, and a substantial amount of concrete work to replace aging surfaces throughout the park. All of this is in addition to improvements completed in 2012 which included new restrooms, parking areas, and umpire facilities.
Hobgood Park, operated by the Cherokee Recreation and Parks Agency, is the largest recreational facility in Cherokee County. The facility offers 10 baseball/softball Fields, 6 batting cages, 1 football/soccer Field, 4 tennis courts, 1 outdoor volleyball court, 2 playgrounds, running/walking Track (1/2 mile), 2 concession buildings, 3 pavilions, 4 picnic areas (1 with grill), and restrooms.
The facility, which plays host to a wide variety of sports and community oriented activities is located at the corner of Towne Lake Parkway and Bells Ferry Rd. For more information, visit www.crpa.net
