Graduation Gift Ideas

May 12, 2016

This month is graduation for high school and college. As bittersweet as it is, it’s a moment of huge accomplishment. Every parent and family member beams with pride as their grad walks across the stage. Whether they’re staying home, coming home or moving away, shop local and get your grad a gift that reminds them of their roots.

Build him/her a gift basket

Some cute items from Spirited Boutique would be fun

Consider building them a gift basket of sorts. It doesn’t have to be a basket, it could be a bag, just as long as it’s something they’d like. For guys, consider a cooler or a messenger bag that could be used for their new job. For the girls, look for a basket, tote or purse. Make it even better by shopping at the local places they shop such as Spirited Boutiques or Blue Frog Imports.

Fill it with what they’ll enjoy

Fire Stone Wood Fired Pizza & Grill would make a great gift card

Are they a foodie? Consider a gift card for a delicious pre-prepared meal from Butcher’s Block or a cupcake from Smallcakes. The girls might like a little at-home spa day, grab some candles, bath bombs, face masks and some slippers that make her feel like she’s walking on marshmallows. If you need spa ideas, Salon Venessa and Salon Gloss are sure to have items they’d love. The guys might like a gift card or two for nights out with friends. Check out our Dining Guide on page 36 for restaurant ideas.

If you want some ideas for homemade gifts, we’ve got some cute ideas on page 18.

Don’t forget the card

You’d be surprised how much a sweet note will mean to your grad, even if they don’t show it. Make your card the topper to a thoughtful gift. Bragging rights are allowed, because your grad really is that awesome.
