Good News from Cherokee Schools!

October 10, 2014

We love hearing good news! As a community based publication, we get to highlight the great things that take place in our community. At this time, we are as pleased as Georgia peaches to announce that Cherokee County School District students are consistently ranking in the top 5 Georgia school districts when it comes to average SAT scores.  Test Prep

This is great news for our community and for our young people. While one test score does not give a full picture of an individual student, there is certainly a lot of weight attached to this score. For many students, their SAT score opens the door to college admission and scholarships. We applaud Cherokee County School District 2014 graduates who averaged 1563 on their SAT! This was the fifth highest average score in Georgia. Additionally, Cherokee County School District graduates outscored their national peers.

Bringing the focus even more local, Etowah High School had 317 students take the SAT; this was the largest number of participants among Cherokee County schools. The composite score for the SAT from Etowah High School ranked 28th in Georgia, and math ranked 23rd in the state!

Not only did the Etowah High School Eagles crush the SAT, they did an amazing job conquering the ACT as well. Etowah High School students earned the highest composite scores on the ACT in the Cherokee County School District.

These scores represent success for each individual student and for the school district as a whole. Cherokee County School District is thriving and growing. These accolades prove that Cherokee County is not only a great county to live in, but it is also a great county to learn in!
