Football, pumpkins, changing leaves, and cooler temperatures are all signs of the changing season, and for many the month of October represents one of the indicators that fall is here. This October, the Arbor Day Foundation is encouraging all to think about those changing leaves and the trees they come from with a membership incentive. In the month of October a new Arbor Day Foundation membership will come with 10 free trees.
Chief Executive of the Arbor Day Foundation, Matt Harris, states, “Members will especially enjoy these trees during the autumn months because they’ll add abundant, vibrant color to any yard or landscape for years to come.” Planting trees in your yard is an investment in the future. Not only will this help in providing clean water, clean air, and shade, but it will also add the element of nature’s beauty as previously stated.
Woodstock is a Tree City USA community and works to help take advantage of the benefits of trees in the community. Communities granted Tree City USA membership must meet four requirements. These include an annual Arbor Day Observance and Proclamation, a Tree Care Ordinance, a Tree Board or Department, and Community Forestry Program committed to investing $2 per capita in tree management. Woodstock, GA meets all of these requirements, and continues to expand green space in the community through its addition of the Greenprints Trails.
While Woodstock does its part as a community to uphold these standards, the Arbor Day Foundation believes that fall is a great time to invest in the community and home with a membership. Fall is the perfect time to plant trees since the summer heat is now behind.
