Madison Duvall won the state championship at the Class AAAAAA state championships held recently at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center. The Etowah High School Junior, was the lone diver for the team in this meet. Duvall’s score was 504.5 points – 89 points ahead of her nearest competitor. This accomplishment marked the first time that the school has claimed the diving title.
Duvall was voted a 2013 All-American by the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association and has placed third at the last two state meets which took place in her freshman and sophomore years. Led by Etowah coach Virginia Richards, Duvall basically blew the competition out of the water. Prior to switching to diving in her freshman year, Duvall’s sport of choice had been gymnastics.
On behalf of the entire Towne Lake community, the TowneLaker would like to congratulate Ms. Duvall on her outstanding accomplishment!
