If you live in Towne Lake or have a student at Etowah High School, then you know that a dream is in the making! Take a drive down Towne Lake Parkway and you’ll see ribbons and bows of blue and yellow. Some on are sign posts, some adorn mailboxes, and others are wrapped around trees. While school spirit and Eagle pride is normal, the momentum for this Friday’s football game seems to be growing more intense than ever before! After a 43-29 win over Newton on Friday, Nov. 28, this year’s team advanced to the semi-final round of the state AAAAAA Football Playoffs. This Friday they will be traveling, along with busloads and carloads of fans, to Gwinnett County where they will face off against the Archer High School Tigers. The winning team will go to the Georgia Dome the following weekend for the state championships!
This is exciting news not only because it marks a first for the Etowah High School football team, but also because it marks the first time that a Cherokee County football team has advanced this far! It seems that the residents of Towne Lake don’t want to let this first moment in history go without notice! Therefore, they are preparing to line Towne Lake Parkway at strategically placed cheer stations and see the busloads of Eagles off. You are invited to join in the action on Friday. Bring a poster, put on your yellow and blue, and bring your loudest voice for cheering on our Eagles! Check the TowneLaker Magazine’s Facebook page for details on those locations.
If you go to the game, let us know how it goes. We want to see pictures, and hear about your experience. Make sure you share socially with us on Twitter and Facebook.
