Discount Microchipping For Your Pet Available at Cherokee County Animal Shelter

February 5, 2014

Towne Lake Area News and InformationMany otherwise responsible pet owners in the Towne Lake area may be missing the final element of making sure their pets are safe — microchipping. If your pet becomes lost, a microchip may be one of the most important elements in ensuring their return.

Did you know that you can get your pet microchipped at Cherokee County Animal Shelter for $20?

The shelter’s vet techs can implant a microchip into your dog or cat and it will be registered immediately with Home Again through their Shelter Buddy database.

A microchip is a small device about the size of a grain of rice that is implanted beneath your pet’s skin. It contains a unique number used to identify the animal. This number links to your contact information in an online registry that once scanned allows shelters, clinics, veterinarians, and humane organizations to contact you if your lost pet is found. The microchip itself does not store your contact information.

To promote its microchipping program, the Cherokee County Animal Shelter has prepared a video to show the advantages of having your pet microchipped.

You can call for an appointment at 770-345-7270 or visit – www.cherokeega-animals.org   and help your pet always be able to get “Home Again”.
