According to Cobb County Police, a senseless act of violence at Cumberland apartments late Tuesday night killed one person and injured another. The terrifying incident occurred at 11:30 p.m. in the Gables Mill complex off Akers Mill Road. Officers responded quickly to the distress call and found two people shot at one of the apartments.
William Brown, 47, died at the scene from the complex’s indiscriminate brutality. The officials took an unidentified female victim to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for emergency care. Her condition is unknown, leaving loved ones and concerned residents anxious.
After the incident, detectives obtained a search warrant to investigate the crime scene. They then interviewed a person of interest, but no charges have been filed, according to Cobb Police spokesperson Sgt. Eric Smith. Reports arose that a little youngster witnessed the horrific events in the flat, but thankfully, the child survived.
The investigation continues as the community reels from this horrible assault, with law enforcement imploring anyone with knowledge to come forward. Community cooperation is crucial to reconstructing the shooting and punishing those guilty.
