Are the members of your family looking to get involved in a fitness program this year? Cherokee Recreation and Parks Agency is offering two new fitness programs to help raise awareness and fight childhood obesity.
Cardio Kool Kids
This dance class combines hip hop dance, kickboxing, sports drills and strength training for an exciting fitness experience. This class will also educate children on healthy living through group discussion and journaling. First-time participants receive Cardio Kool Kids t-shirt, car magnet, journal, pen and set of hand weights. Registration for first-timers is $90 and returning students are $75.
The class is for children ages 6-12 and meets on Tuesdays from 4:30-5:30pm starting January 15-February 26. (Class won’t meet during Cherokee County’s winter break.)
Ground Kids Yoga
Get your kids interested in yoga with this combination class of traditional yoga poses, laughter and elevation taught in a playful yet meaningful way. Children will learn proper alignment, the union of breath with movement, and to be mindful of their thoughts, words and actions. They will build strength, stability and self-esteem, increase flexibility, reduce stress, improve concentration and become more self-aware. They will also learn the benefits of each pose and how yoga can help them handle different obstacles in life. Registration is $80 for the 6-week course.
This class is for ages 5-11 and meets on Saturdays from 10:00am to 11:30am starting January 12th-February 16th at the Recreation Center in Woodstock.
To register for either of these programs, please sign up in person at the Rec Center or visit the Cherokee Recreation and Parks Agency’s website.
