A Cherokee County man has pleaded guilty to charges of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence (DUI) in a tragic incident that claimed the lives of a husband and wife. The court heard that the man, whose name has not been disclosed, was intoxicated when he caused the fatal accident.
The collision occurred last year, leaving the community deeply saddened and sparking renewed calls for stricter measures against drunk driving. According to prosecutors, the man was driving at a high speed when he lost control of his vehicle, crashing into the couple’s car and resulting in their immediate deaths.
